Loft Insulation

Probably the cheapest and quickest way to insulate your home is by installing loft insulation. The material used is usually of low to medium density. There are three main materials used for loft insulation:

• Mineral fibers
• Cellular glass
• Foamed plastic

The Green Deal will cover loft insulation because it has a quick return on investment and the savings will quickly cover the initial outlay.

Many properties in the UK have loft insulation but it might be of the wrong thickness to be achieving maximum effect. Current thinking from the energy commission states that an ideal thickness is 27cm.
