Green Deal for Tenants

What Can Tenants Expect From The Green Deal?

The coalition government is keen for the Green Deal to be used as leverage against landlords who rent out badly insulated properties. It will be against the law by 2018 to rent out poorly performing properties, thus forcing landlords to upgrade homes to meet minimum standards. Although the details are still to be finalized, it’s assumed that properties that fail to achieve preset levels, through an updated version of the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), will be deemed illegal to be rented.

From April 2018 it will be unlawful to rent out a house or business premise which has less than an “E” energy efficiency rating.
