Cabinet Reshuffle and the Green Deal

Date: 4th Sep 2012   By: ciaran   Comments 0

The Government shuffled the pack today and we saw some big names move. But the key players in the Green Deal stayed in their posts. Greg Barker is still in his position and the man above him Edward Davey stays where he is as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

The only real thing of note from a Green Deal perspective is that Owen Patterson becomes Environment Secretary and according to some reports he’s not the greenest of choices. His support for shale gas exploration has raised a few eye brows and he is a more right leaning conservative, who aren’t known for their green interests.

It seems that the Green Deal has escaped under the radar in the re-shuffle. Hopefully the right leaning conservatives can see the massive potential in job growth and economic stimulation that the Green Deal can produce.
